John Philip Sousa National Young Artists Solo Competition

December 8, 2017

From a Jupiter Press Release

The competition serves to identify, recognize, and honor outstanding high school musicians who demonstrate a significantly high standard of excellence in performance. We seek to recruit current high school juniors – students who will be seniors during the fall of 2018 – who play a wind or percussion instrument to submit a solo performance for critique and adjudication. Each student receives feedback from a national panel of educators; the competition winner will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with a university or military band. A one-thousand dollar scholarship, sponsored by Jupiter instruments, will be awarded if the winner enters college as a music major.
