From a First Flight press release

First Flight Winter Guard is excited to present their 2010 program, "About the Journey". Derived from the commonly known phrase, "Life is about the journey, not the destination", the twenty-four men and women of First Flight will illustrate the dynamic journey of the human individual. Following a successful 2009 top five finish in the Independent Open Class, First Flight is thrilled to debut in World Class.

Performing on the photograph of a tunnel, which metaphorically represents a journey, First Flight explores how individuals are influenced by the people they meet in life. Intricate partnering, complex exchanges, shadowing costumes and moments of weight sharing depict the acquisition of characteristics from the people we encounter on our journey though life. Jeff Dale, director of First Flight, is honored that First Flight has been a part of so many performers’ journeys since its inception in 1997. We are proud to announce that members from eleven of First Flight’s past seasons have made the return to the 2010 cast to continue their journey once again. This historic 2010 membership adds another exciting dimension and brings the “journey” concept to full fruition.

“About the Journey” is staged and choreographed to an exquisite tapestry of the Coldplay song, “Fix You”. Costume designs are by Tommy Keenum. Set and flag designs are by Andy Hudson. First Flight was unable to compete at the Raleigh Regional due to snow, but had an exciting trip to the San Diego Power Regional, and will finish the 2010 season at the Atlanta Power Regional and World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.

Staff includes: Jeff Dale, Andy Hudson, David Kelly, John Leonard, Jenny Durko Hudson, Jennifer House-Hinshaw, Kim Kelly, Emily Gmitter, Nicole Aune, Jody Jones, Karen Prince, Bobby Richardson, Danielle Harris and Tara Morrissey.
