Norwell, MA - June 2006 - On Thursday, May 25th, 2006, the Grand Prize Winners of the A Zildjian/Matt Sorum Sweepstakes arrived at the Zildjian Headquarters in Norwell, MA to spend an exciting day with Matt and select a complete Zildjian Cymbal Set-up.
Grand Prize Winners included: Scott Keller, accompanied by his wife Lisa, and daughter Claire, Richard Waggener, and Cesar Escobar, accompanied by his friend Angie Gabriel. Their day began with a warm welcoming from Zildjian VP Chief Marketing Officer Brad Baker and Marketing Communications Manager Jason LaChapelle. After a brief introduction to the Zildjian Headquarters, the winners were introduced to Matt Sorum and were treated to photos with Matt on his authentic drum kit used on tour with Grammy Award Winning Band, Velvet Revolver. Their day proceeded with a Factory Tour given by Zildjian Product Specialist John King where the winners saw historic memorabilia and witnessed the countless manufacturing processes that Zildjian Cymbals undergo before they are shipped. After the tour and a short lunch break with Matt, Aerosmith drummer, Joey Kramer, surprised everyone by visiting the Headquarters to say hello and take a few photos with the winners and his good friend, Matt Sorum.
The remainder of their day was spent in the world famous Zildjian Drummers Lounge and Vault selecting a complete Zildjian Cymbal set up of their own. Each winner was assisted by Matt during the cymbal selection process and was given the opportunity to test their new cymbals on Matt's drum kit. To conclude the fun-filled day, the winners were treated to dinner with Matt and Zildjian representatives, including Craigie and Debbie Zildjian.
Grand Prize Winners also received $100 of assorted Zildjian BASICS (branded logo-wear), 36 pairs of Matt Sorum's Zildjian Artist Series Drumstick, autographed memorabilia, and the A Zildjian Exclusive "Backstage" Promotional DVD featuring Matt and Velvet Revolver.
John DeChristopher, Zildjian's Vice President, Artist Relations & Event Marketing Worldwide who spent the day with the winners and Matt, said, "Scott, Rich, and Cesar were just the nicest people, and were absolutely blown away by having the opportunity to spend a day at the Zildjian Factory, selecting their own personal cymbal set-ups with Matt Sorum. And to make the day even more special, we invited Joey Kramer (Aerosmith) to pay a surprise visit. So ultimately, they got to meet two rock stars and were treated to a day they'll never forget."
