WGI Sport of the Arts created of a greater series of regional championship events providing expanded performance opportunities as well as added services for participating groups. The goal is to offer greater service and an elevated experience to nationally competitive color guards and percussion ensembles while allowing local groups to discover WGI in a unique and large-scale event.
Approaching each event as a “mini-world championship”, groups can expect the same attention to detail that has made the Dayton events recognized as one of the best-managed marchaing arts events in the world. The final weekend of the 2013 Elite Events heads your way this weekend in Bowling Green, KY; San Bernardino, CA; Orlando, FL, Kingston, RI; and San Diego, CA! Get ready for the Mid South and Western Percussion Championships and the Easter, Southeastern, and Western Color Guard Championships!
Built in 1963, with a $32 million dollar renovation in 2002, Western Kentucky University’s E.A Diddle Arena holds 8,000 brand new seats, 16 luxury suites, two video boards, new concession and restroom areas, and elevator access to all levels. Historically used for basketball, the arena will host the Mid South WGI Championship, which was previously held in the Nashville Area. Top percussion groups will face head on, showing their stuff only a month before championships.

March 23-24 Western Percussion Championship: San Bernardino, CA
The Coussoulis Arena is home to the California State University San Bernardino Coyotes. This facility has hosted many local circuit percussion events and several WGI Color Guard Regionals in the past 5 years. A great space to watch and listen!

March 23-24 Western Color Guard Championship: San Diego, CA
Color guard is no stranger to the Jenny Craig Pavilion. This beautiful facility, located on the University of San Diego campus hosted portions of the 2004 WGI Color Guard World Championships. This arena is an awesome place to watch the best on the west coast!

The UCF Arena opened in October 2008 and offers over 1,800 seats for color guard fans. “The Venue” has been modeled after an old-fashioned musical theater.

The Ryan Center seats over 2,500 fans on the concert side. Rhode Island lighthouses were the inspiration for the design of the three towers, marking the North and South entrances of The Ryan Center. The arena staff uses a catch phrase to make sure all customers have a great time, “How you Doin’?”
