Hieu Nguyen

Captions WGI Colorguard Movement, Colorguard Design Analysis
Bio Hieu Nguyen is originally from Danbury, CT. He first became involved in the marching arts as a tenor saxophone player in his high school marching band. From there, he began in the colorguard activity by joining his high school winter guard and found a great love for the activity which continues till this day. Since then, Hieu has performed with many successful groups including: Alter Ego, St. John’s of Beverly, and St. Ann’s World Winterguards. He has also performed in DCI with the Cadets. Hieu began his extensive movement training at Boston University where he was a member of the dance theatre group. He focused his training in ballet, modern, and hip hop movement. During law school, he expanded his training to contemporary movement and earned a role in the Anna Myer contemporary dance company from Cambridge, MA where he performed professionally for several years.  Hieu has shared his passion in the activity by teaching and choreographing for several successful units. Currently, Hieu is on staff at Shenendehowa High School as a choreographer where he has been since 2009. Hieu began adjudicating in 2006. He is thrilled to be adjudicating for WGI and hopes to be a part of the activity for many years to come. Outside of the activity, Hieu is an Attorney running his own law practice in Boston, MA specializing in family law and domestic violence prevention. He has been named a top 40 Attorney under 40 in the State for 5 consecutive years and remains committed to giving back to the community by volunteering at Greater Boston Legal Services for those in need. Hieu is also an avid runner and is a proud finisher of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Boston Marathons for team Boston Arts Academy raising over $14,000 for Arts based education. In 2013 and 2016 Hieu completed the NYC and Chicago Marathons raising over $4,000 for the WGI Scholarship fund. After having some fun running, Hieu is currently focusing on his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
