Today WGI Sport of the Arts announces the 2015 schedule of events for their 38th competition season. With the addition of the new Winds division, the 2015 season will definitely be WGI’s most ambitious calendar featuring 29 color guard events, 20 percussion events, and 9 winds events spanning 22 states and three countries. The season will culminate in Dayton, Ohio with three of the world’s premiere marching arts events otherwise known as the WGI Percussion World Championships to be held on April 9-11, the first ever WGI Winds World Championships to be held on April 11-12, and the WGI Color Guard World Championships to be held on April 16-18.
“After a remarkable season this year, we are launching our largest event calendar ever,” said Executive Director Ron Nankervis. “We are excited to bring the WGI experience to new performers and marching arts fans with the addition of WGI Winds events.”
WGI Winds
As one of the world’s largest and most influential marching arts organizations, WGI has studied bringing the same exciting competitive and educational opportunities to students in the winds section in full support of the total band program for several years…and now is the time for WGI Winds.

We are opening up additional opportunities to students and filling a niche in the indoor performance arena. We look forward to seeing some great shows and enthusiastic fan response!”

WGI Regional Championships
The very popular series of WGI Regional Championships are ten of the largest, most exciting events of the season. All are held in major university arenas during the last two weekends of the year and displays color guards, percussion, and wind ensembles at their best as they prepare to battle for the world championship in April.
Bowling Green, Kentucky welcomes back the Mid-South Percussion Championships for its fourth year while San Bernardino, California hosts the Western Percussion Championships at Cousoullis Arena.
The Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, will welcome the Mid East Color Guard Championships a third time, while Denton, TX will see the Southwest’s best color guards battle it out for the Southwestern Color Guard Championships at the University of North Texas. The final weekend of competition on March 21-22 will see Elite Events in Orlando, Florida at the University of Central Florida, West Long Branch, NJ at The MAC at Monmouth University, and San Diego, CA at the Jenny Craig Pavilion at University of San Diego.
WGI World Championships
Following two spectacular championship events in 2014, the WGI World Championships again rolls into Dayton, Ohio, looking to once again set records as one of the largest marching arts events in the world. Percussion & Winds Championships will now be on the first weekend, followed by color guard on the next weekend.
