The Gulf Breeze High School SoundWave is seeking a dedicated and skilled Percussion Instructor to lead and develop our percussion section. The instructor should have knowledge on teaching both Battery and Front Ensemble, assisting with music and drill instruction, and ensuring students develop strong technical and musical skills. This position could be seasonal or year-round based on experience and expertise. We work closely with our middle school and elementary school feeders, and there is a huge potential for a private lessons studio in the community.

Band information:
The SoundWave marching band is growing and we have a strong group of students (120) and staff.  We are looking to march 2 snares, 2 quads and 5 basses this fall.  4 marimbas, 3 vibes, xylo and other auxiliary instruments.  Our books are usually very demanding.
We are a semi-competitive band and will attend several competitions in October.
The GBHS concert bands are quickly becoming one of the premier ensembles in North Florida.  We are attending the National Band and Orchestra Festival in NYC and performing at Carnegie Hall.  We performed two Grade 6’s this year at District and State MPA.

Pay: Negotiable based on experience and expertise.

Responsibilities:
• Teach and refine percussion technique, music, and marching fundamentals.
• Work closely with the band director and instructional staff.
• Lead percussion sectionals during rehearsals and band camp.
• Attend all scheduled rehearsals, football games, and competitions.

Qualifications:
• Experience teaching marching percussion (battery and/or front ensemble) at the high school or college level.
• Strong knowledge of percussion technique and arranging.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and band leadership.
• Positive attitude and passion for music education.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in DCI/WGI or college marching band.
• Background in music education or performance (degree preferred but not required).
