McKinney High School is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Color Guard Director to lead and develop our growing program.
The ideal candidate is energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated to fostering student growth within a team-oriented band program. They should demonstrate strong pedagogical expertise in color guard techniques and performance, the ability to develop a comprehensive and engaging curriculum for both the fall and winter seasons, and a commitment to student recruitment, retention, and program growth.
The McKinney High School Royal Pride Band is a competitive and growing ensemble that consistently participates in UIL and BOA events, including BOA Regionals and Super Regionals. The Color Guard is expected to have 20-30 members this fall, with significant growth anticipated.
The Winter Guard program is well-supported with a dedicated class and budget. Recent classifications include Scholastic Open (Varsity) and Regional AA (JV) in NTCA and WGI. The Varsity Winter Guard has competed at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio twice. A Cadet Guard and Spring Showcase provide additional opportunities for recruitment and retention.
The administration and community are both extremely supportive of the Fine Arts. McKinney has been named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the NAMM foundation nine times. The City of McKinney is a family-friendly community that is located thirty miles north of downtown Dallas in the dynamic growth area of northeast Collin County.
